Playing with Puns: A Corn-Shaped Cornhole Game
You may have played cornhole before, but have you ever played cornhole with corn-shaped cornhole boards? The Genesee County Farm Bureau considered the possibilities of possessing such a wonderfully punny game and asked us to make a pair for them.

Corny Fun
It turns out that the agricultural industry brings more than just really good food to people’s plates. The industry is also a regular fountainhead of incredible puns and plays on words. So, when the Genesee County Farm Bureau asked us to make corn-shaped cornhole boards, we were delighted. We saw it as our chance to help spread the corny humor behind agriculture.
The farm bureau wanted to do more with these boards than just make a joke, though. They wanted to give visitors a fun game to play. They also wanted a new way to tell their visitors about the nation’s corn production. We’d say that our boards tackled all three goals.
The Punny Game
The most noticeable part of the game set are the large corn graphics mounted onto the flat plywood cornhole boards. Both boards feature a handful of facts about United States corn production, giving the waiting players a chance to expand their corn knowledge. The graphic and text help contribute to the overall corny feel. We also fashioned the board itself to match the shape of the corn graphic.
The large plywood corn sits atop a base of boards. We built the stand in the back of the board to be collapsable, which allows for ease in storage and protects the stand from potential damage.
To finalize the product for the Genesee County Farm Bureau, we also provided green and yellow bean bags along with a storage bag with handles. Both boards and all of the beanbags fit nicely in the bag. The entire game is relatively lightweight and easy to transport. But, best of all, it’s pretty corny.
