State fairs represent the most direct contact some consumers may ever have with farming. Between the animal barns, the food competitions, and the 4-H/FFA competitions, ag-themed content is everywhere at a state fair.
The extension office in Virginia wanted to take advantage of ag’s visibility at their state fair. So they decided to use their booth to give consumers a basic understanding of agriculture’s role in Virginia.
We built them four double-sided displays with flip-up Q&A panels to quiz consumers about a variety of topics. The displays cover stats about Virginia’s agriculture and American agriculture more broadly. They also touch on topics directly related to consumers’ everyday lives, like food safety and nutrition. Since state fairs draw a wide audience, the questions come in a mix of difficulty levels. Most are easy enough for kids, but some are meant to challenge adults too.
At the front of the booth, a double PanelPACK arch draws passerby in with teaser questions and an invitation to “test your ag IQ!” The custom graphics we designed ensured that the ag-themed booth looked professional, but not corporate-y — perfect for a state fair.
