What do farmers do in the winter — or summer for that matter? Most consumers know farmers plant in the spring and harvest in the fall. But it can be harder to learn about what farmers do during the other seasons. Since farming covers all the seasons, Macomb County Farm Bureau wanted to fill in the gaps for the visitors to their mobile exhibit trailer.
This graphic panel lists things farmers might do in each season, such as “harvest hay” for summer or “plant winter crops” for fall. It includes things people might not think of as farming, such as getting orchards and pumpkin patches ready for visitors.
The display’s custom graphics and circular layout reinforce the point that farming happens through all seasons. The work never finishes, even though its focus changes with each season.
